Anna-Marie Hainsworth - Theatre Designer
Theatre Design weaves together two things I love and am fascinated by: making things and storytelling.
Originally I received a BFA in Fine Art from The Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University (despite spending most of those three years hanging out in theatres). I then trained on the MA Theatre Design course at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, achieving distinction. Now I am fortunate enough to work in a profession and in environments where every aspect interests me.
I am fascinated by structures and textures, form and colour, and how they come together; how a set does not need to mimic a place or a story but just grasp the sense of it; how a design can be a page on which the story is written or how it can be more visceral; how a set or costume can have a physical impact on the performer in space; how design is not just a backdrop but an exploration.
This website provides an overview of some of the projects I've been involved with.
